Hi,

I am trying to replace a faulty door latch on the driver's side front door. It is a manual locking car, rather than central locking.

I have managed to unscrew the latch mechanism, but can't work out how to unplug the cables/rods in order to remove it. There is one cable linked to the inside door handle, one rod to the key mechanism, and one rod to the outside handle.

The rods/cables aren't fixed to the latch mechanism by screws, they have plastic ends.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Hi
The rods are held in with plastic clips which kinda wrap around the rod into the latch ,so you have to carefully prise out the rod.The cable only pushes in to the latch and the end clips into the lever

ok this is the best photo i can find, and essex bloke is right, but it has to be the hardest thing in the world to describe. basically where the arrow points at "inner handle rod", this drops into the hole on the right of the red piece, then the red piece swivals round so the left part of it wraps around the rod.

only by unclinking/swivaling this back around will the rod come out of the hole
