Indicators - lack of use

Why wont people use their indicators to let other motorists know in which direction they are going. It drives me mad when people either dont indicate at all, or indicate at the last minute, also when approaching roundabouts and you stop because you think a car is coming round only for it to turn left - you could have travelled on. What do other drivers think?
