I've just dropped my key and remote pad down a road gully and am now waiting for my amused wife to come and rescue me with her key. I assume the key is gone for good, but does anyone know how easy it will be to get a replacement. Feeling like a bit of a doofus - sympathetic answers only please.

Take your chassis number , registration and some I.d to a landrover garage and they should have it on computer.
If you mean a normal drain at the side of the road, get it out. It would be worth the hassle and dirt, as the fobs aren't cheap.

You will have to take the car when you get the new fob, as the alarm electronics has to be synchronised to the new fob. And any other fobs you still have.
Try to retrieve it. Use a magnet which will hopefully get the ring part of your keyring. You may have to sacrifice an old speaker to get a strong magnet, and tie it to some strong wire, and go fishing.
When you retrieve said keyfob, firstly chastise the wife, cus I'm sure she will say you're mad, and then take it to bits. Run it under a running tap, to wash out all the mud, and stick it on a radiator to dry for a few days. Shove a new battery in, and it hopefully will work..
Bet you wont do it again in a hurry!
Good luck

Thank you all for your responses. With the aid of a wire coathanger and more than a little luck, I was able to fish it out again. It didnt smell too good, but both the remote button and the key itself worked first time. The whole thing has since had a bath in warm, soapy water.
