I assume this is the right place for this question, what i want to know is who is in charge of road signs, namely the THINK BIKE road signs that are on the majority of junctions here in norfolk, and that as we were returning from a mc rally at the weekend noticed that all of the signs on our way round were covered with black bags,we lost one of us a couple of years back at one of these junctions, and even that sign was covered, until someone ripped it off,so who do we contact about it?thanx

I would try the Highways Dept. of your council.
I believe they are responsible for maimtaining local traffic signs

Hi Zara,

Dilligaf is right, At least you have signs in your part of the country I have not seen one near me on Anglesey, covered or uncovered, I think the mad mulha of North wales police would rather have us all killed1

why doesn't that surprise me Toureman?Thanx for your answers i'll see if i can get hold of them but have trouble holding on to my temper regarding some things!
Good luck Zara.
You will probably find they are on strike for more money. That's why thyey can't afford to look after their road signs. Bit of a Catch 22 situation!

I'm a bit confused by your question zara. Road signs are usually only covered when they have not yet come into force or are temporarily suspended (eg for roadworks). Of course, this would only affect regulatory signs (speed limits etc). The 'Think Bike' signs are non regulatory and are only there for information and to draw the attention of car drivers to bikes, as well as for the bikers themselves. In this case, I cannot understand why any official body (council/Police) would cover the signs. Do you think it is some local who is peed off with all the bikers in the area covering them up or what? By all means contact the Highways Dept, but I can't understand why they would cover the signs...or have I got the situation wrong?

No sddsddean we have tonight been in touch with the highways department, who then got in touch with the police and neither were aware that the signs had been covered so if it is anything to do with anyone taking the p1ss,then they will see what bikers think of that, they WILL all be uncovered wether they like it or not!!!
