When I was growing up in the 00s I remember most of the cars you would see on peoples driveways were just normal everyday cars. Of course people still had posh cars, I remember going round to a friends house and his parents had a Mercedes, but apart from that I didn’t see cars like that very often. These days however if you drive out you can guarantee to see a plethora of BMW’s, Audi’s, Mercedes etc and new ones at that. Why are these kind of cars more popular on uk roads than they seemed to be 15-20 years ago? Thanks

Easy finance.

And they're not posh.
I've noticed it myself. There's an awful lot of white range rovers about these days.

Douglas- so you don’t class a Mercedes s class as a posh car?
most of them are lease deals. I know people who basically have another mortgage for a car they'll never own.

Tora- did they not do that in the 00s?
You didn't mention 'S' class though, did you ( or 7 series or A8 ).
not so much, it's much more common now.

Yep, and then knocked out through the auctions at the end of the lease.
Personal leasing seems to have become a lot more popular these days and the better quality new or nearly new cars don't lose their value so quickly, meaning a lower cost to the leaser as the majority of what leaser pays is the difference between purchase and sale price.

Tony- yes but I mentioned all three manufacturers of them cars, which include them models. He said ‘they aren’t posh’
what is "posh" is very subjective, don't sweat it.
He said ‘they aren’t posh’

The majority aren't, although I suppose it depends on your definition of posh.

For example now I could drive round a council estate and I’ll see quite a few houses with newish BMWs and the likes, whereas 15 years ago that didn’t seem to be the case at all
Blame that bloke on the TV who keeps telling us he is a lease man and that you won't catch him buying a car
I don't class cars as posh at all, Dan, especially German ones.

I do like a quirky Citroen though.
By the way, "he"? :-P
When did you last see an old banger with panels/doors in different hues?
Posh is an obsolete word. You mean expensive.
Choux, cars don't rust like they used to.
Keepin' up with the Jones's?
