Why Google, when you can ask nice human beings and get some friendly banter with the answers?
It's easier for some people to come here, where they have 'friends' and where there are some expert googlers who'll do a better and quicker job than you can do yourself.
I often wonder that too. The generous people who answer a question have often found the answer in Google a.
But I can't criticise because I have done this myself - asked a question and somebody found the answer on Google. I think sometimes if the question causes any distress to the person asking it then it is some kind of comfort to share it with others and read the answers they find
It somehow validates the person asking the question and makes them feel they are understood
Why do you use AB Piper?
Lot of people on here are lonely and use AB to reach out, imho.
googling often gets you nowhere if you phrase the question wrongly or include a typo. It's run by megabots and algorithms. Ask a question here and human beings are more likely to know what you mean.
It can be interesting for others to know 'that they didn't know that '

Plus information from questions asked can be useful for future reference for others
Probably people want to chat to other humans. It’s natural.

Perhaps it depends what sort of device you use for connecting to the internet. I use a laptop and a desktop, both with nice large screens; I find a smartphone too tedious for anything other than trivial look-ups mainly because of the small screen and keyboard size.

curiosity.. curiosity
and of course to look at your always courteous answers
piper107.......you have my support on this Googling theme.

If you just want to chat then surely one doesn't need Google e.g GMEBs.

If you don't know the answer, then either don't post or say that you don't know. The problem is that the "don't knows" bang in a couple of words in their search engine , find a site and then post the link, with not a word of comment and to make it worse, often get best answers.

Some ABers just have to answer whether it contributes to the thread or not.

Certainly there are situations where a link is an easy option to the question but, not usually.

The whole system of Googling in respect of AB seems so impersonal.

piper107 is asking why a poster doesn't just Google instead of asking on here .

But you're against relying on Google , aren't you ?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick here ?
Bazile, my little dissertation was really on the use and disuse of Google on AB.

However I can see it might be difficult to come to that conclusion.
and some just like being facetious

Am I Right ?
I'm Not Wrong !

"and some just like being facetious"

As Churchill said, "Oh yes".
I ask here if I need opinions rather than facts, or if I want to share something some here might find useful. Bird sightings are my thing as there are a few on here that twitch a bit.. I would also ask if I knew there was someone on here that has a specific skill set I can tap into.
