I haven't seen the advert and don't know the name of the company but from I'm told it sounds like a claims company getting compensation for owners of diesel cars on a no win no fee basis.

Alarm bells are ringing but one of my relatives is very keen on the idea. Any help much appreciated. Not sure if this should be in law or motoring.

I saw the advert. Apparently if you were lied to about the performance of your diesel car in terms of emissions in certain years then you may be able to claim compensation. like the PPI claiming, I look somewhere like the Money Expert to see if you can make the claim yourself. I guess it can't hurt to investigate but sign nothing, pay nothing, give no payment details
trouble is this (these?) firms want personal data from you before they will say if you have a claim or not. You can't check anonymously.

Thanks all, I have asked my relative and that is the advert he saw. I've told him to do nothing for the time being as I am very much of the same mind as woofgang.
Toyota (& lots of other makes) aren't in the list so presumably have had no claims lodged.
Question Author
woofgang, his car isn't listed on that website.
that's why I said it looks more honest...that original one will sign you up regardless
Question Author
I agree the website looks unprofessional and dodgy.
