On my existing Micra which had been given a six month extension until 11th November. So I booked an MOT on 14th October in order to give me time for any work to be done and I have just discovered that its failure on 14th October rendered it to be an MOT fail as of 14th October. I cannot get the new one Insured and taxed as the Registration document is not yet in my name (daughter bought it from a trader and didn't get the Log Book.) So I am in a right pickle. I have a dental appointment tomorrow and another Thursday. help!!

Taxi.
Get a bus, change your appointment, get a socially-distanced lift, get a taxi, walk, drive old car illegally, drive the new car illegally.
Does it have 'dangerous' faults?
What did it fail on? Are they going to fix it?
So you were given a 6 month extension. Why did you wait till this month to book a MOT when did the original MOT run out 14th of June ? Or am I missing something
Because of the difficulties in getting a test because of the lock-down, some cars were given an extension.
I would go on to the official website and see what it says against your car.
