I seem to be getting quite a few lately.
Just had 2 that I didn't answer. According to "who called me" they were insurance scam calls referring to car accidents....lots of complaints.

nope.
Nope. If we don't reognise the number on the LED phone screen we leave it to the answerphone to kick in. If it's important the caller will leave a message.

And they never leave messages, do they?
No reason not to. It's easy enough to terminate the call and block the number if it turns out to be a scam.
Only if I'm expecting a call. If not...no. I rarely hear it ring anyway.
Not usually

Not if they are scams. If no meaningful message is left we block the number.
Usually yes. If it's to talk about my recent accident I usually utter a profanity and end call.
I only answer to my Nigerian boyfriends .
You have to be careful because often hospitals with-hold their numbers and they may be trying to get in touch with you. This happened to me a few times and it went to voice-mail, but the numbers were one way only so I couldn't call back and had to wait until they called again.
No, I let the answerphone pick it up, then only take over if it's appropriate.
Sometimes I answer them, but only if I'm bored. Do like to give the scammers the runaround ☺☺☺
APG is right, plenty of people withhold their numbers for non-nefarious purposes, so you shoudn't just assume an unidentified call is from a scammer.
Yes ,in case it is my long lost cousin , Kevin Masambango .

He may have come into a fortune and want to deposit some into my bank account
Question Author
This was an actual number...which I googled, as I often do.
My doctors usually phone me (number recognised) to tell me the hospital will be calling on say...Fri, between 10 and 12 on a withheld number. Them days I always keep my phone on me.
I have had my home landline set to be number withheld ever since I had it for 20 years. The advantage - we never get any scam calls at home at all - I assume because it wasn't on any sold list.. None. Only get them on my mobile.
...and it seems to vary from day to day ...sometimes 5 in a day ...all apparently different numbers but i bet it's the same scammer....then none for a while...
If there is no message I usually call them back. Invariably I get 'number not recognised'.
By the time I've got there and performed a web search they tend to have stopped ringing. Don't have answerphone, not my job to chase unknown callers.
