If road tax is due to expire at the end of the month, how soon can it be renewed to follow on the first of the following month, without losing out ?

You can tax your vehicle up to 2 months before it expires if you're going to be away from home (eg on holiday) when your current tax runs out

I do it online and it just keeps running until I cancel it so no need to ever renew
