I'm travelling to Congleton in the Peak District from Kent on Saturday 2nd June on the M1/M6 route.

Is it worth joining the M6 Toll road for this journey, and what's the toll charge ?

Thanks.

I always use the M6 Toll - it saves fuel and aggravation compared to the old (busy and knackered) M6.

£4.80 on a Saturday (cheaper between 23:00 and 06:00)
If these are up to date:- M6 toll charges are:-
Vehicle class Mon–Fri (06:00–23:00) Sat–Sun (06:00–23:00)
Class 1 (e.g. motorbike) £3.00 £2.80
Class 2 (e.g. car) £5.90 £4.80
Class 3 (e.g. car with trailer) £10.00 £8.60
Class 4, 5 and 6 (e.g. van/coach, HGV) £11.00 £9.60

I always use the Toll Road and in both directions - it's far less hassle.
Give it all a miss and use the A49. That will take you to Congleton, which is in Cheshire, not the Peak District, which is Derbyshire.
I like the A50 route across to the M1, can be a quick road if the M6 round Birmingham is busy which it can be outside the toll road.

yep M6 toll, bargain, use it.
Congleton IS in the peak district so it's not your error but 10cs.
It's a longer distance, so how can it save fuel?
I like the Toll, it reminds me of what the M6 was like when I passed my test - but that was back in 1972!!!
Well it aint in Derbyshire is it?
Got me confused as well 10CS.
Quite a few of the websites give it as 'Congleton in the Cheshire Peak District' - something I've never heard said around these parts (Wilmslow) - probably just clutching on to The Peak District's coat tails for publicity.
I'm with you on that, Capt2. I live in Manchester and never heard that Congleton was in the Peak District. Also, we have a few relatives living in Macc. They've never heard it either.
IN general, yes, use the toll But it's only worth it if the traffic along the non-toll M6 is heavy.

My brother lives in Macc, so we use the route a couple of times a year.
From Kent, use M25, then M40 up to the M42 (round the north of Birmingham.) As we join the M42, we tend to check on Google maps what the traffic is like along the non-toll road.
We expect to use the toll, but if the traffic is light on the non-toll road, then we make that decision according to information from Google.
On a Saturday just after lunch, you might be OK, but check with Google. If you don't have that, or want to make that decision ahead of time, definitely take the toll road.

Love the Toll road and well worth £5.90
Used it once, and wouldn't bother. Expensive for a longer route.
I'm not keen on the toll road either. It adds time to your journey. Although I did find it useful when visiting the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, rather than the longer route from Jct 10 off the M6. But you have to pay for that convenience. Nothing is easy is it?
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
