Did anyone notice how quickly Harry got away in that E-Type Jaguar? Having closed his door, he briefly said something to her and they were away. There didn't seem time to start the engine, de-clutch, engage first and move.
I think the engine must have been running already, (the film was silent I think) it would have been something of an embarrassment had it not started first time. Those big Jaguar engines had to spin a bit anyway before firing up, as I remember.

I thought they said it was an electric car ?
Yes, a converted electric car.

Good god! are you serious?
Not happy Khandro?

They are probably doing their bit to change attitudes to electric vehicles.

There was I, and probably many people around the world, thinking they were looking at piece of quality British engineering, and it fact it is a bastardised monstrosity.
Converted by the Jaguar Works as a concept

https://www.jaguar.co.uk/about-jaguar/jaguar-stories/jaguar-e-type-concept-zero.html

The drive train (batteries, motors, etc) same space, but slightly lower weight than the original, so better performance, but same handling as the original.

Jaguar says they might make it a commercial car, depending on demand.

They could not have had a better launch platform :)

Brilliant marketing/product placement to show off classic British design combined with cutting-edge technology.
That car's worth a bit now!
Shame about the colour though.

Hmm! - I confess I didn't watch any of the wedding at all, in fact that bit of film was all I saw - hard to avoid. Still, if it was made at Browns Lane I guess I'll have to put my purest views to one side.
I never owned an E-Type, but have had Mark 1s and Mark 2s I I have to say, this seems like a Jaguar for Cissies though.
"purist"...surely?
The world is changing Khandro. It has to.
Mind you, I remember feeling horrified when I heard a few years ago that Jaguar were starting to put diesel engines in their cars.
id rather have it with its original petrol engine, its a hybrid i know
but im a purist.

I used to be always impressed how quickly Jim Rockford used to get off in his Pontiac Firebird, but I think it may have been an automatic.
Anyone else remember Jim's starts? Quite useful if they're after you!
as an aside.. I played golf with Jim Rockford...!
Question Author
minty; You never cease to amaze! Calligraphy, Golf and now Jim Rockford, whatever next?
I actually thought it was a right hand drive and that it was Meghan doing the driving.
Sorry......just checked the video....got that totally wrong.
5 stars pro am at Moor Park , Herts many moons ago Khandro..and he was very nice !
Rockford's Firebird was a Firebird formula made to look like the lesser Esprit. Needed the extra muscle for car chases and that Jim Rockford turn around.
