Dam thing packed up last night but I did manage to get the car home, a tip for a few If I can, it is possible to exchange the Key Fob Batter which is Panasonic VL2020 you have to Split the body's of the Key fob by using a Stanley Knife but be very careful, when opened the Battery is visible & held in place by 2 Solder points, remove & purchase a new Panasonic battery through Ebay £9.00, when you think that the dealers will ONLY sell you a new one at a £200 how's that for a rip off, I hope this tip will hep you.

I must say that's the first fob I've heard of where the battery is soldered in. Cheaper on Amazon too but you'll probably never need another one.

That's BMW BHJ, another Rip Off unless you can sort it out yourself which I did.

Correction on my Ist purchase price, It was £6.10 not £9.00 as stated.

Ginge I stepped in too quick with your link, the battery arrived & was the connecting pins were in the wrong place, looking at that battery with on line I should have noticed the connecting pins were at position 9>>>>>3, they should have been 10>>>>>2, they have to be altered before they fit which means prying them out of there spot weald & repositioned, it can be done but a lot of messing about, not to worry at least the battery will come in usefull. generally if the key needs cutting open then it should be a rechargable battery that actually charges in the ignition. My 760 does that. Presumably the battery is knackered. Anyway fellow beamer driver, thanks for the tip.

TTT, I have just this morn sent the key off to London, to fit a new batter, check the PCB, £17, they require Ist Class, a note of your details inside, returned within a week, I did do that with my old Beema, it worked a treat, look up ebay for a BMW Fob repair, by the way, I re-fited the battery I'd bought little did I know that you can damage the battery when re-soldering the Connecting pins in there new position, think on if you need a new battery.
