I'm not sure why young speeders who have just passed their test to be treated more harshly than older speeders who have just passed their test
I'm not sure why young speeders who have just passed their test SHOULD be treated more harshly than older speeders who have just passed their test.
Why just young people..many older drivers are stupid.
Statistically, though, young drivers get many times more points on their licence than "older" drivers, certainly that's how insurance companies see it when calculating premiums.

Anyone who tots up six points within two years of getting their licence will automatically lose it:

6 points in first two years and they lose their license. I think that’s harsh enough. I would imagine just 2 point would make insurance prohibitively expensive. Yes, I know there are the rebels who don’t bother with insurance.

I'm sure I mentioned YOUNG DRIVERS in my post!
You did but you’re being challenged on your statement about a six month ban.
'youngsters' just pass their driving teat caught speeding

That's the title...
But why are young drivers being treated differently from older drivers who have just passed their test?
*test...haha
^ As said, more than a 6 month ban is already law, 2 speeding offences (which are at least 3 points each ) in the first 2 years after passing your test and your licence is revoked.
You can't get it back until you have re-passed an extended version of the driving test and attended a speed awareness course!
Plus your insurance will go through the roof!
Yes Eddie but why are they being treated differently that a 50 year old who has passed their test on the same day?
"But why are young drivers being treated differently from older drivers who have just passed their test?"

They are not. The regulation (6 points and licence is revoked) is the New Drivers' Act, not the Young Drivers' Act. It applies to anybody who commits offences within two years of passing their first test. Also important to remember that they are not banned but have their full licence revoked. They can immediately obtain a new provisional licence and must pass their test (both parts) again.
Islay, it is not just younger drivers , it is ANY driver who is in the first 2 years of passing the test. You could pass it at 70 and get 2 speeding fines before you are 72, you still get your licence revoked until you pass an extended test.
We seem to have a significant number of people in this country who are hell-bent on finding no fault with any behaviour, however irresponsible.

Until it lands at their door of course.
Thank you New Judge for explaining that so its all drivers not just youngsters - so the headline is not entirely right then!
The title is just another TWR Ill informed rant.
