I've noticed that quite a few people seem to have a pillow of some kind on their dashboard or on the back shelf.

Sometimes they are obviously for decoration, other times, less so.

Do you have one in either location? If so, why?

some taxis in this area carry "pink duck" cushions. there has been some speculation as to the meaning of beak facing left, or beak facing right, in terms of what the driver is doing, or prepared to do....

Blimey, sorry, can you elaborate on that?

Is there a whole world of "pillow talk" that I am unaware of?
I've only once had cushions on the back shelf of a car......orange floral cushions with a braid trim....

MrG asked me to collect his car after its service.......the cars were all left in the yard with the keys inside......so I took the first one I came to which was the right colour and almost the right model.....

Driving home I could see the two cushions in the mirror and thought that even though I didn't really like them it was a nice touch by the garage to give you cushions when you had your car serviced.........☺
The 'Baby on board' one drives me nuts......
Maybe it's for the sleeping policeman!

My grandmother had a cushion made for her by her mother so that she could see over the steering wheel.

But not on the dashboard etc!
## the meaning of beak facing left, or beak facing right, in terms of what the driver is doing, or prepared to do.... ##

What beak ?????
....the beak of the duck!
I'm not a fan of stuff on dashboards or back shelves in cars. It must be so distracting! One of the parents at my daughter's school has the back window shelf full of wee cuddly toys. Quite disturbing if I'm ever driving behind them.
I'm not Ed's granny, but I do have to sit on a big cushion to see over the steering wheel..... ;-(

Wish Mushroom would come back to elaborate....my mind is working overtime here......x
just to be on the safe side i'm going to avoid all taxis with pink duck cushions ...
Could be a dehumidifier, Ab Editor, to stop the windows misting up
Maybe they are for the nodding dogs to have a kip!

Can someone throw some light on what mushroom25 was referring to?
Question Author
Hc - that's a good idea.
Not a clue, Ed.
I've got one like alavahalf links to, though of course mine doesn't have the giant URL as I only have a small car. The pillow itself is quite small too 6-8 inches wide, so I don't know if that the sort of thing you're thinking of.
What area are we talking about?
I'm thinking it could be a bit like packets of OMO in the window.........I didn't know OMO meant old man out.... I'd have thought it was any soap powder and probably put Fairy or Daz in my window if I'd been so inclined.....

My annoying friend is now going through all the brands and making up phrases to fit.......we've had SURF.... TIDE and PERSIL so far.....I'm going out.......x
