not too sure about this, if you're right why do some insurance companies offer telematic recorders at probably a large expense when they can just plug in a laptop to the car's ecu
Question Author
I have just been reading up on a couple of sites Paul, it seem's the last 10 Seconds are recorded!!!!
Spy in the car eh ? Surveillance society advances.

So before condemning on approving what info does it have ? And why should it be assumed that speed was inevitably the cause anyway ? Does it record everything else in the environment and what they did over the previous period too ?
..OR...

As I typed !

Before we go further OG, who's condemning?
twr, when you say the last 10 seconds, surely that could be the car ticking over as not all accidents happen and the engine/ignition switches off instantly, or what about a car involved in a hit and run? the guilty party may have the front of the car ripped off but it still may be driveable, what would be recorded on their ecu.
A proportion of those responding to your suggestion ?

Dam, Looking.
too much technology, bring back MK1 / MK2 escorts and other cars like that i say.
Aye Paul, who needs cars that start in the cold and rain anyway? :-)
Question Author
Looking at the Black box recorder, I am totally in agreement with it.
The technology in the ECU is amazing these days, however it's when things like this are happening that are a bit on the scary side.

some high end vehicles do but having worked for a company that was involved in storing and offering workshop facilities for vehicles involved in RTCs and fatals for the police i never once saw a scene of crimes or police traffic investigator remove an ECU from a vehicle..
Question Author
I did read that report Tony, frightening.
So,if it became public knowledge that say Ford were able to provide such info, what do you think that would do for sales?

Lower your Insurance costs.
That's not the answer to the question I asked.
