Motor Bikes.......hundreds Of 'em

I've just come along the A50, and in the Uttoxeter area, coming in the opposite direction were about 300 to 400 motorbikes, followed by a police bike flashing blue lights. They were travelling East ( from Stoke area), and it was 01.40 a m. I was wondering if anyone knows where they were coming from (or going to). Just being nosey, really.
