looking at a second hand car...found a honda frv which has 3 seats in the front! (i like quirky stuff!) anyway..they dont make these models anymore bit i want to go and have a look at some...they mainly vary around 70000miles...some go up to 90/100,000 miles...vary in ages between 06 and 09....after reading forums it seems a better bet to go for more mileage as probably cambelt etc will have been done as the 70000 region is when things go wrong??is this right??

if it is a honda and looked after ie serviced etc it is just about run in. Would go on for another 70k miles if looked after.
Diesel or petrol?
If you are buying a car that old ,check that it has had the cambelt replaced. If in any doubt then get it replaced yourself so you can be sure it has been done.

Yes good thing plenty of life left in it I f it has been looked after and cam belt should have been changed. If everything checks out go for it.
No not free but could save you a fortune.
If it's the 2.2 diesel it has a timing chain ( not a belt ). No an RAC check isn't free.

A timing chain should last the life of the car unless something catastrophic should happen to to engine or the timing chain tensioners wear.
Pink, for your own sake & your pocket, take someone with you that knows a bit, it is worth giving £20 for satisfaction regards the Mechanics of the car, there are many things to look out for, Clutch / Out of Track / Small crack in the Windscreen / too many to list, also as I have mentioned in another post the spare, newer cars have the stupid noddy get you home wheels or a tin of C r a pp to repair the tyre, for the tyre to be thrown after using the stuff, if you see a car inspect in dry weather as the rain can hide a lot of sins, try the car out, do not buy from the side of the road, do not hand over cash until you are fully satisfied, If in doubt, walk away.
