Try Economy Car Hire, on the net. They will give you a list of car hire companies and their rates.

Alicante Airport had loads of car hire companies.

The latter...No need to inform your insurer.

Try an agent like holidayautos. I've used them many times but whatever you do don't get a car from Gold Car - they are horrendous
