got jaguar x type 52 plate went to use car central locking wont work on fob checked batt ok any ideas anyone had this problem thanks

although don't own a jag..if only...ours went recently..there is some kind of contraption behind door we are having it replaced soon
Mine (X-type diesel estate) does this occasionally, if I turn the ignition back on momentarily it clears itself and works again - until the next time!
I don't know what causes it but isn't worth the money to find out IMO.
Just done some research on some Jag forums and found that this is not an uncommon problem.
The most common fault seems to be a flap inside the ignition barrel which sometimes sticks open so the car thinks that the key is still in the lock and won't operate the central locking.
This would explain why mine works when I put the key in again as this action would free the flap.
The recommended solution is a squirt of WD40 down the ignition barrel to lube the flap.
