I live in South East Essex and want to hire a people carrier for a few days. Has anyone got any recommendations? I'd like it as cheap as possible, from a reliable firm. Thank you.

I've used Enterprise and Thrifty in the last year, they've both delivered the car to the door and collected it on my return. Probably as reasonable as any?
I would try Economy Car Hire. They are an agency and give you the rates
for most car hire firms. Another plus is that there is normally no excess on the insurance.
I have used them many times over the years and have always had complete satisfaction.
Easily found on the net.

Thank you very much. Unless I'm entering the details wrong, Enterprise is the cheapest by far. I'm not sure I'm putting in the right kind of vehicle though as "people carrier" isn't coming up as an option on theirs. What should I put? They have "people carrier" as an option on a couple of the others... Avis and Thrifty I think. Thank you.

On Enterprise select either mini of full size mpv depending on No. of seats needed.
Question Author
Thank you. I can't get a quote from the Avis site. I could've sworn I got a quote before. There's not a button to click on after putting all your details in.

Thanks again. How many seats would a mini MPV have?

Enterprise quote on the Zafirs or Ford S-Max, the Zafire has 6/7 seats depending on occupants.

Thank you, Enterprise is very near to me so I have no problems picking it up. I do have concerns over Enterprise's honesty though, as my son had an Enterprise car when his car was hit by another car and was in for repair, and when Enterprise came to pick it up they found a really minor bit of damage to the car that they said my son must've done, but he didn't. Apparently that's common practice for Enterprise to go over the car with a fine tooth comb and say that you are the one that caused the damage. No car is perfect, so there's bound to be a minor imperfection on it somewhere that they can accuse you of. It really annoyed me at the time, so I'm not sure I can trust them, even if they are the cheapest.
I've ordered Enterprise over the phone (with payment) and they've delivered the car as required.

There will be four adults, a toddler in a toddler seat and a baby in a baby seat. I don't understand what you are saying about driving licences. Thank you for everyone's input. It's much appreciated.
I don't think your driving licence will be an issue, a small, even large MPV is basically a family car.
Question Author
Thank you. Would the small MPV accommodate six people and luggage including fold-up travel cot, do you think?
I think 6 people + luggage + cot would at least mean a full sized MPV, maybe the Ford Galaxy as you can rearrange the seats to suit.
