More like half an hours labour. Not knowing what model and year hard to answer, some are pigs to get to, have you tried Halfords ? They do a fitting service on bulbs, however they have been known to say sorry we cant do that car / model. Maybe worth giving them a ring though.

Sounds like they are quoting for an hours labour, can you D.I.Y.?

It is a bit awkward, especialy as you don't say which audi you have but this might help

£15.00 for bulb (Audi prices) £50.00 labour ( .5 hour) + VAT £79.00...
Some vehicles also require going on the diagnostics kit to tell it a new bulb has been fitted and remove the fault code , late BMWs have to have this done,
I think it may also depend on if it is an Halogen or Xenon bulb.
Halfords replaced my headlight bulb (I tried myself but was impossible) for something like a fiver + cost of bulb.
Replaced my headlight bulbs in my Saab about a month ago ( one had blown but I replaced both sides ) it was a real pain, you need hands the size of a baby's.
Damn silly isn't it?

Had this on a Focus - one side's OK the other's a pig!

You'd think the designers would give a passing thought to maintainability - Light bulbs aren't clutches they can go fairly regularly

What next? fuse boxes that require an engine removal?
Ford of America once bought out a model that required an engine removal to change the spark plugs.
It would appear that car manufacturers are trying to make things as difficult as possible for the average DIY'er so as to get you into the dealerships for most repairs so they can fleece you.
Did you notice Tony / Toureman, this bloke did not check if the light was working until he replaced everything. I would have checked if it was working before replacing all components.
To bloody right TWR, I wouldn't have wanted to dismantle it again.
By law, all cars should be designed so that their headlight bulbs can be changed by the roadside without any tools. I changed an H7 halogen bulb on a friend's Skoda Fabia last month in the dark. The job only took three minutes and no tools were needed.
i thought that Tonyav but dealer Xenon bulbs are in exess off £100...
I know there expensive chas, and not straight forward to change either.
On some cars you have to remove the front bumper Ted, it's getting that way that the dealer will have to do it all.
A mate of mine has just sold his Saab Aero & he's totally gutted, he really loved that car except when it went wrong, it cost him over £3,000 to change the discs & pads!
Teddio,
i can give you a list of cars that is it impossible to change a bulb by the roadside without specialist tools or knowledge..
carrust, I did mine myself last year, bought the parts ( discs and pads, front and rear of Ebay ) for about £180.
