My Polo is a bit older than yours but it might be the same.
There's a knob next to the mileage counter. You press it to rest the mileage and twist it for the clock.
Twist it in one direction for hours and the opposite way for minutes. It only goes forward so you have to go all the way round the clock to go backwards in time.
