My old satnav has decided to stop working. I dont need anything too sophisticated. I dont drive in Ireland, Europe or USA but would like to think it is simple to load and get me from A to B without any errors. I would like a biggish screen. I dont wear glasses for driving but dont want to have to put my glasses on to read it. Are there any add-ons that you think I might need? The number of models on the market is bewildering. What make/model do you suggest?

Before you get a new one, are you sure your existing one cannot be fixed ?
I inherited a TomTom One that 'stopped working'.
I just bit-torrented new software (map etc), booted it all up and it's fine.

I'm no expert but I think one of the first things to consider is what your budget is. My uninformed suspcion is that most of the big names are likely to have similar quality products. Do you need real time updates of jams and things ? I suspect not, it's extra for a subscription if you do. Work out your budget and take a gander at what your local car product retailer has before going away, considering it all, and returning for a purchase.
