I got points on my license for speeding about 5 years ago, just checked and they expire after 4 years.
My brother's girlfriend is looking to add me as a named driver on her policy to bring her insurance rate down but I need to have no points on my license.
Do I need to do anything to get these expired points removed or will I still be considered to have no points if I don't do anything?

you are considered to have no points. However the "about" 5 years ago could be improtant - most insurance companies ask about claims and point in the last five years
They "expire" after 3 years, but remain on the licence for 4 years.
They expire after 3 but remain on your license for 4.
It's not worth sending off the license to get them physically removed, it's only a bit of ink on a bit of paper once they've expired and it will cost you to get them physically removed..

If you really want to get them physically removed then make sure you don't send your license off for a change of address to a mates address and then change it back to your own address a couple of months later, because that's really naughty ;-)
