Cracked Windscreen

A chip has just turned into a crack all across my windscreen as of 20.30 tonight. I have a job interview tomorrow at 11 so can not get it replaced first thing. Is it safe to drive until i get back from the interview?, its a 60 mile round trip

I was driving from Sussex to Somerset when mine went. Autoglass told me I would be fine to carry on home, over 80 miles, as the screen wouldn't shatter and they would come out 1st thing the next morning and replace it. And they did. This was 2008.

The crack is across the bottom and not in my line of vision. I don't want to miss the interview, its a 2nd interview, for a really great opportunity. Thanks for the kind words jonny and rozia

I don't want you to miss the interview either! But you asked "is it safe?" and, in my opinion at least, it isn't...

Ring them NOW and see if they'll fix it tonight. That way you don't have to take any risks. Why would they advertise 24hrs if they're not. Insurers are 24hrs too.

They don't carry all windscreens in stock though. Depending on the car and spec they would have to order one in which could take a few days.

Good point evian, my wife just pointed out that i drove the car around for a week last time because, and i quote "your a lazy b£$%!@£". It was actually only a couple of days and I was off work at the time.

Thanks again everyone. Made the interview ok, got the windscreen replaced next day, found out yesterday I got the job.
