Hi
a query for you , i was picking my mam up from outside a shop today, i was on double yellow lines with car ticking over and sat in driving seat, literally for 2 mins, i spotted a person who looked like a council warden officer? (think thats what they are called) this person was on other side of roundabout across the road from me say about 60 feet away, i drove off but noticed she had some kind of device in her hand and was looking at my vehicle and others parked nearby, do you think it likely that i will get a ticket through the post? or am i being paranoid? i hold my hands up, i know they are there for a reason and i cant complain if i do but i was just wondering...if i do get a ticket how much is it? ive heard its reduced if paid within 14 days, thanks for your replies

If she was taking your photo and details then you'll definitely get a ticket (sounds like it by the way). Round here it's £60 reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.

hi rocky, thanks for your quick reply, i dont know if it was a camera but a device to log number plates, possibly, im sure, what happened to the times when it had to be issued to you or placed onto the screen for it to be valid lol, i guess £30 isnt too bad but next time cheaper for her to get a taxi! guess todays good deed for someone else is going to cost me then..

.
jesyca, as the old saying goes 'No good deed goes unpunished', ain't that the truth. I want to cry when I get a ticket.

hi
this will be my first ticket,(if i get it of course) so i,l accept it gracefully and on a positive note , we are helping to keep that person working and pay taxes, she was only doing what shes paid to do and i cant complain about that, thats life!

your defence is you wtre not actually parked

hi cath, i think because i was stationary on double yellows and a sign stating no loading at any time, im guilty lol, just found out that its £70 here too, so a few of them a day for that lady and she pays for her own wages
So, you can get a parking ticket for just dropping somebody off at the kerb then!!!!???? I thought that "to be parked" a driver had to be out of the car and that sitting there with the engine running still implied a driven vehicle, albeit stationary.
weren't you waiting rather than parked? some signs say no waiting, so there must be a difference.

Hi
in answer to manta and old wos, i know i was in the wrong by being stationary on the double yellow lines, and this in itself is a finable action, wether i was just sitting there for a few mins or not, i was still stationary where i shouldnt have been, i accept that, the signs stated no loading at any time, which i guess interprets no hanging around for whatever reason, i think the only drivers who can legally park, be stationary on double yellow lines were disable badge holders.
i spoke to a policeman today and explained everything to him, he said not to worry, he certainly does not seem to think i will get a ticket and there were far more things to worry about. and that if i should get a ticket which he very much doubts, to certainly challenge it as the ticket should either be placed on the car itself or at the least handed to the driver of the car concerned.
i can only wait and see
If it was only double yellows on the road, you're fine as you weren't parked. If there were also short double yellows across the kerb then that means no loading or waiting so you may get ticketed.
