im really worried about a pain in my right side that i woke up with this morning. at first i thought it was because i needed to pass water so went to the loo but the pain then didnt go. ive had it all day and im getting very concerned. the pain is there all the time, below my right ribs at the front i would say, it hurts when i breathe in and out deeply, i assume because my diaphragm is moving. when i lift things, it really hurts, when i bend too and even i press the button down on top of the loo cistern. when i lie in bed on my side or my front it feels like whatever is inside is dropping to one side or forwards. i fitted some light shades yesterday but used the steps so didnt reach and two days ago i lifted some heavy boxes which i had to push and pull into and out of a gap but that was two days ago. we went out for dinner last night and i felt a bit weird, agitated and hot and very tired with aches in my calves. today i woke with this pain and feel really tired and spaced out, a bit of a sore throat and the odd sniffle and really tired and a bit shivery in my back now and again. i took a nap for an hour this afternoon which is unlike me. ive been taking ibuprofen for my back pain and hubby wonders if ive taken too many hence the pain. i wouldnt think so as spaced them out. i also feel thirsty alot and craved sugar around lunchtime although i am eating well. i almost booked an emergency docs appt this evening but i know its silly but feared the consequences of being ill so near the weekend, going off to hospitals, walk in centres, i hate being ill near the weekend as fear there is no one to go to immediately and have to wait in walk in centres where in the past i have just been fobbed off or so i felt. so, any ideas what is wrong with me?

The pain sounds muscular to me. If you press down (as you did on the toilet cistern) you would engage the muscles in that area. Lifting heavy boxes might have done it. The sore throat and sniffle could be a bit of a virus.
It sounds similar to when I had kidney stones. Whichever position I was in the pain was there. It was from the tummy all the way round my back. I wanted to go to the loo all the time but couldn't. I had 2 tiny stones lodged in my urethra so the pain was excruciating. Maybe it's nothing like that but something to think about. I was taken into hospital with mine but after 8 hours in A and E,suspected ectopic pregnancy so no morphine,I passed them thank goodness. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon. Take care.

I was getting worried it was my gall bladder or liver or something like that.surely if its due to lifting that was on wed,I felt nothing yday.yes could be a virus thing, unconnected I don't know?lots goin on with me n the old body right now, dreadful back and hip pain n not sleeping well.don't know if related but at night I keep getting a very itchy chest n neck so doesn't help sleep, weird!we've just had a tempur mattress 3 wks agoz,I'm nt allergic to this am I?
I have often found that if I hurt myself lifting something - usually dog into car - it doesn't bother me that day, but kicks off the next day - about 24 hrs later.
I agree with 237SJ/Rodge2

Almost certainly muscular. How much Ibuprofen are you taking? At least 400mgms every 6 hours.

im feeling a bit brighter than i did yesterday. i still have the pain in my side but would say it has gone 25%. i am wanting to think it is just a strain so i dont get too worried so hope it is. funnily enough the tops of my arms especially the right one and my leg muscles ache too so perhaps it is due to too much pulling and shoving vigorously on wed, and my muscles have now gone from stretched too much back to where they were and they dont like it! yes sqad im taking 400mg ibup every 6 hours roughly but it doesnt seem to touch the pain too much, im taking them for back pain anyway. i just dont want to be drugged up all the time!
Hi nextqueen, sorry my advice was rubbish but hope you're feeling better. I wouldn't wish kidney stones on anyone so I hope it is just muscular.

your advice wasnt rubbish at all, you have to consider everything and the consequences! illness never accomodates for life in general does it, you think you are ticking along nicely until you get ill then you realise just how lucky you are to have been well!
