What would you do? My next door neighbour had a delivery from B&Q this morning. The delivery van parked over my driveway to deliver the goods which was no problem at first but after so long I needed to get my car out of my driveway to go to work.
The delivery man had finished his delivery and was just sat in his cab. I politely ask him if he would move so I could get out of my drive. He replied “Sorry mate I’m on my break” I explained to him I had to get to work. He Replied “ Tachograph won’t let me move”
I said I only want you to move A foot or so. He then said “sorry I will be breaking the law if I move- 10 minutes mate “
Then wound up the window and continued to eat his sarnies.
Do you think that by moving his lorry a few inches he would get into trouble with the law or do you think he was just being unreasonable? .
I lost a new costumer because I was late for his pick up (I’m a driving instructor) do you think I should seek compensation from B&Q.
(The lorry was across my drive for about 50 minutes)

He would not have got into trouble for moving the vehicle. I would have rung B&Q depot straight away and told driver I was doing so. If B&Q did nothing I would have rung Police. Take this as far as it will go and inform B&Q you will be going to the Press if they cannot resolve this to your satisfaction.

What a load of bull - it's hardly likely that he had reacherd his driving hours limit already for the day .

Clearly , 'he' just wanted to have a break and you can wait
Send a bill for compensation to his employers, and say if it is not paid, you will take them to the Small Claims Court. It would help if you had a photo of the obstruction.

They shouldn't have blocked your drive without asking and should certainly have moved when asked. I would be complaining hot and strong.
I had a similar problem once. A delivery driver had just delivered some oil to my house while I was out. I came back to find him eating his sandwiches. I asked him to move as I had a load of shopping and he was taking up all the space at the top of the (steep) drive. He said he was on his break and couldn't move for a while. I had to lug all my shopping up the drive while he watched me.
I would complain to B&Q and ask them for compensation.
i think yes you should. Did they not have a "how am I failing to drive, phone xxxx" sign on the back ?

Complain bitterly and make widely known. You need bloody minded drivers like a hole in the cranium.

He said that when he arrived there wasn’t a car in the drive!! . This was true it was in the garage!. After he said that he would be breaking the law if he moved.
I felt like saying Ill brake you neck if you don’t. (But I didn’t. )

I bet your neighbour feels terrible.
Fitting typo.

"More than my job's worth mate."
I would definitely complain to B&Q and not ask for compensation but for an explanation and confirmation that they would speak to the driver concerned.

Tilly2 .My neighbour couldn’t give a t**s as long as they have got their goods. We are not the best of mates. But that’s another story!
I suspect the tachygraph would not register a small manouever anyway. He was fobbing you off a bit like 'sorry mate can't do that 'elf and safety'.

I think I will pursue it-at least for the lost lesson fee.
The cheeky hard faced so and so, I'd definitely pursue it !
I would phone B&Q and see what they have to say for themselves. I think it's nonsense that he couldn't move the van just a few few to let you out. Sounds like he was just being an ***.
Sorry, sounds like he was just being a bottom.

Damn swear filter seems to have been beefed up!
