Hi - Getting a lot of noise from engine compartment.
I.ve been told it could be the cam belt has broken
or the fan belt.
Before I start doing anything does anyone know
the procedure for replacing either of the above.

if your car is still making noise..then it's definately not a broken cambelt..it wouldn't be still running if that was the case. a broken fan belt would be unlikley to cause any ongoing noise unless it has wraped around something (pretty rare) so if i were you ,i'd at least let a good mechanic have a listen before you do anything.
Water pump bearings, oil way blocked in the rocker housing, Is the fan belt tight? has it just started? Is there some thing dragging under the car? Exhaust mounts are they tight? A lot of Qs but thats how you find the answer.
water pump is a week point and make a noise when they are on the way out. It might be a good idea to change the cam belt at this point as well if its not had a new one in your time of ownership.
