hi oldhamfan i just had a look at your link and under the how much is your tax catogry mine is an auto model and road tax is �40 extra per year for automatic why is this!!

Because these days road tax is payable based on the amount of CO2 in grams your car emits per km.

The manual version produces 177g/km. Your comfy gearchanges bump the emissions up to 206g/km so you have to pay higher road tax.

It will mean an extra �100 a year come 2010, but it could be worse. My father in law bought a 2001 Lexus IS200SE two years ago and he will be paying �430 p/a!

The above applies to cars registered on or after 1 Mar 2001 (Y registration and newer) by the way.
