If my car insurance is void but the insurers are legally tied to deal with the third party calim, will they fight to prove the claim is a valid one or will they just pay out and then recover the money from me?

If you have no insurance then the third party will claim any costs from you personally.

thanks for that. legally the insurance company who last dealth with you has an obligation to deal with a third party claim. the insurance company are keeping my premiums from inception and will refund me with whats left after the claim has been sorted. trying to find out if the insurance company will try to defend the claim or if they will just 'roll over' pay whatever's asked and then claim it back from me!
