I've had this intermitent noise looked at but garage said it was just dust and nothing wrong with the brakes per se, after a couple of weeks it's started up again any ideas?

you can get it from time to time,we usually just rub down the outside of the pads with sandpaper and that does the trick.
It s common practice now to smear a liitle copper grease on the back of the brake pad where it is in contact with the piston on the caliper to stop them from squealing.
Another thing to do is to use a power washewr and blast any new dirt out of the calipers - just remember to dry your brakes out before you need to do any serious braking.
Thanks I'll follow up your replies,
