Could anyone recommend a good, reliable, small car because I've been looking at buying one, either new or within a couple of years old and I just canot decide!?

At the moment I drive a Citroen AX (cheap first car!) and now I'd like something with a little more power and reliability! I was drawn to the VW Polo, but have been told that the Honda Jazz is more reliable and cheaper to buy and insure (which is always a bonus)... so something along these lines would be rather nice.

I'd just like peoples' personal opinions before I scrap the AX and move on....

Thanks

nissan micra or honda, they never go wrong
Honda jazz has consistently one of highest satisfaction ratings of any car - but it is expensive
you should take test drives, especially if your going for something newish, and dont plan to buy brand new, atleast go to like vw and ask for a drive in a polo, and the same with anything else that takes your fancy, i personally dont like tha driving position in the jazz, its makes me feel like im in a lorry or something, and test drives, especiallt the ones you can get for a few days let you decide that something is totally wrong, or right
My son's lass has a Kaa,surprisingly roomy and economical, even if it is ugly. She has never had any reason to complain
You wouldn't go far wrong with a VW Polo. Go for the 1.4 petrol or the diesel Tdi.
stick to jap cars ie yaris, jazz, micra.
My wife has just got an 04 new shaped 1.5 diesel Micra. what a cracking little motor it is.
Used to drive a fiesta - was involved in a very heavy accident but came away unscathed becasuse of its strength. Very impoprtant to buy a car based on its safety rating. Had I been in another small car (ie not as strong) I easily could have lost my legs.
I therefore have faith in fiestas but my sister drives a micra and it has been great for her. Small, extremely reliable, nippy and relatively easy to insure.
Good luck
Simple answer - a Nissan Micra
