there has been a parked car on a main road round the corner from me and has been sitting with no tax - am unsure re insurance. it has been there for about 4 months.

is this legal, when all around some students are getting their cars clamped left and centre.

Probably belongs to a Student
Just report it - it will be towed away in a day or two.
Question Author
well why can one car be allowed to park when others are clamped all round the place
You can check if it's taxed on this link:

Question Author
who do you report it to
When the tax expire?
My council has an online reporting facility for untaxed/abandoned cars. Works well, usually gone in a day or two.
you can check if it's insured here:

Its a pool car then , unregistered and used by a criminal syndicate.
Surely it is up to the house/business it is parked outside of to report it?
Yes, that’ll be it Gulliver - JJ has stumbled across a criminal syndicate.
Nobody has answered JJ's original query, which as I understand it, is why do some vehicles remain "unnoticed" for so long while others are pounced on within hours.

IMHO it shows some lack of route planning on behalf of the supposedly vigilant authorities.
But is the clamping for no tax or for parking violations?
Cars with no tax are usually removed, not clamped.
Might sound like a stupid question but why is this bothering you jennyjoan? If it's round the corner surely you can't see it from your windows?
sherrar, why should it be up the people whose house is closest? Householders don't own the road in front of the house. Maybe it's their car, or maybe it the car isn't outside any property.
