What fuel?
Question Author
Petrol
If the "circle" has an arrow at one end the light indicates a problem with the traction control system.
I had something similar on my old car. Turned out to be the hand brake as in "release the hand brake before you drive off you dozy mare"
Tyre pressure?
Most cars need a computer diagnostic to determine exactly what the warning light is saying unless it's something obvious. Have you checked your manual or is it on Naomi's list?
This is the Electronic stability program ( ESP) its also connected to your (ABS) Anti breaking system. This can override the throttle input.
There should be a button somewhere on the dash that switches the ESP on and off, check you've not switched it off, if so switch back on, turn ignition of and on to reset, if this don't work I'm afraid its a garage job.

Yes Davebro the circle does have an arrow at the end.
"If the "circle" has an arrow at one end the light indicates a problem with the traction control system."

It's worth checking your tyre pressures are all correct & that the tyres all show the same (or similar) amount of tread.

They are all new tyres but will definitely check the pressures, seems quite drastic if it is just not enough air in tyres, I will also check the ESP switch, thanks guys.
You can check the symbol on the link
I posted.

Thank you naomi but it's not on there.
Of course it's good to keep your tyre pressures and tread in check but no way would they make the car jerk like a kangaroo if they were a bit off. That has to be an engine management problem.
from ttforum - "I picked the car up and started the 300 mile drive back home all was well (except for the fuel gauge not working ) until I had covered approx 270 miles then the traction control light came on and the back of the car kicked out to the right similar to torque steer, drove the car back - a little slower with no problems, left the car for about an hour then when out in it traction control light was off after about 1 and a half miles the car brakes felt like they had been applied very hard to the offside and the traction control light came on,pushing the esp button did not turn light off. I have left the car then restarted it tc light off on start up pressed the esp to turn tc off and driven the car and all seems well
any ideas"
No? Oh that’s a shame.
16.46 the latter points to ESP being reset as per my post at 12.50.
