Expect Better From House Of Fraser!

Or maybe I should have known better now it has been taken over by the Sports Direct chappie.

I bought some goods online and when they arrived they were not as described and not suitable. The returns information stated I could post the items back by Royal Mail at my own expense or take them to any House of Fraser store. I opted to go to the store.

Firstly I was told I could only have a credit note which is contrary to my statutory rights. They caved in but refused to refund the original delivery cost of £4.99 - it was company policy and they would not budge even though the law states that they must refund the postage.

When I got home I sent a letter detailing my rights in law and how store policy could not take precedence. Two days later I got the refund.

I would expect large companies to be fully aware of the consumer laws and abide by them - if this happens to you, don't accept it. Fight back.

Goo for you for sticking to your guns. Pretty bad service from HOF
You should have let them not pay you back, then sued them. No win no fee tings.
It's a guaranteed win.
Sued for £4.99, spath?
100%. That's a medium meal at McDonalds.

The ‘no win, no fee’ parasites don’t take on this sort of case. I will report them to Trading Standards if they don’t update their terms and conditions.
