Mini Cooper Fuel Gauge

Hello all.
I have a 2010 mini cooper diesel.
The fuel gauge is showing 'full' even though theres less than a quarter tank!

The most likely cause of the problem is the sender in the fuel tank sticking.

I seem to remember that some cars read 'full' all the time if the wire to the sender is broken or disconnected.

Is the computer read out telling you how many miles you have left?

It's one of three things, the gauge itself, the sending unit or the wiring in between.
