Have you driven a high mileage car - was it kn@ckered?

I have been brought up to believe that 100,000 miles is the magic figure for the life expectancy of a car but I have driven a Volvo 740 with 175,000 as a daily runner and had no problems at all with it.

i had a peugeot 407 estate diesel that i ran as a cab for 5 years and i gave it away to a mate with 347,000 on the clock and it served as a runabout for a further 4 years

in my time it had 2 clutches and 4 front suspension rods that knock out the bottom bushes via speed bumps (about £13 each)

because it was always running it had the original untouched exhaust system

just make sure that the oil and filter is changed to the makers spec, keep it serviced and change the cambelt at the recommended intervals

modern cars will run much longer than years ago...... i remember in the seventies that if anyone said they had a car with 100,000 on the clock you knew it was a volvo
