Hi everyone... we have a '10 Focus... just over 14,000 on the clock... its just been for its first service and MOT.. it passed.. apart from the Tracking is WAY WAY out..and as a result.. the front tyres are nearly illegal..need to be replaced..and the tracking sorted!I trust the garage.. main dealer, that we use...what I want to know... is... is it best to put the new tyres on before it goes back to the garage, to be laser tracked and re-checked..or tracking first.. i assume tyres on first ? TIA Mrs c x

I'm surprised you haven't noticed the car pulling to left or right. I would get the tracking done first, then a new pair of front tyres.

I always get the tyre fitters to check tracking at the same timethey do the tyres
Good advice, Baldric. If I spend £100-plus on a pair of tyres, I always get the tracking checked as well.

We,ve used the same firm for 20+yrs, private company, not franchised, never had a problem.
when you shop around for new tyres you should ALWAYS get them tracked and balanced , you also need to keep a check on the tyres to make sure that they are not under inflated as this causes wear !

Strange Frugalfred.. we haven't noticed any pulling.. left or right sided..we both drive the car... Baldric we always do too.. Nannybody.. first time we've had to have tyres on this car.. and have always had balancing and tracking done, when the tyres have been done on other cars... but thankyou all for your input... Mrs C x
I thought that new tyres should go on the back wheels.

Clipping the Kerb does this mainly Crisper, Just another tip, you have no need to use the main Dealer for your service, use your local family run Garage, ask them to use the Genuine Filters etc for your warranty, your cost will be halved.
Always on the steering Dereck.
That used to be the advice TWR, but I believe it is now recommended to have the best tyres on the rear.

Personally I just make sure all four are legal.
