Accident Damaged Car

Morning,

I just bought my first car. The dealer told me the indicator light was replaced and some scratching was T-cut out the drivers side.

I have now received the log book and there is a entry which says:

"Substantially repaired and/or accident damaged"

I contacted the dealer but was told he knew nothing of any accident!

As this dealer advertises through Auto Trader I assumed he was reputable.

Is there any way I can find out the true history of this car.

Thanks

Get it HPI checked ( google it ).
And the trader most certainly would have known it was damaged repaired. And if they have sold you this car without advertising it as damaged repaired then that is fraud.Tell them you want your money back. If you keep it you will find it very difficult to sell on.
Try and contact the previous owner to see if they can shed any light on the accident and repair.

Take the car back & either get a refund or have the price reduced what you paid.
To add, if you intend to keep the car, keep checking the tyres on the Off/ S.
( Driver side) If this car has been damaged on this side there may be a possibility the car is out of line.
Apart from the excellent answers above the dealer seens to be lying about the "accident damaged" by covering it up by saying he fitted a new indicator light and t cut some paintwork!

Very dodgy car.

Thanks all, lesson learnt!
Have you had your money back buzzyb ?.
Always do a HPI or similar check on what ever car you are interested in, could save you a lot of grief later down the line.

no, phoned car dealer near Wembley and he said he gave me all info i needed included details of crash damage so would not give me my money back. Dealer did not give me all the info, so it's his word against mine.

Been very foolish got stung good & proper. Hopefully I will not have too many problems.

Buzzy, give this dealer the option, either money back or you will contact Trading Standards, do not except his / her statements, T.S. Will help you.

Do not leave this too late.
