hello i recently acquired a Bora (2000 1.9tdi 90bhp 113k miles). when I went to start the car yesterday it would not start, the lights and the power and everything else seems to fade from it quite quickly, when i got the car jump started it went first time then i took it for a while last nite and it worked fine, i then tried to start it again this morning and it started ok, I have a rover there also (25 2.0 tdi i think) and i am thinking of changing the battery over from it but before i do this i would like advice from your goodselves could this be anything else maybe more serious or should i start with the battery first?!

The way the weather is at this time I would go for the battery, Don't forget your radio code ( If you have one).

It was yesterday evening and it wasnt below freezing or anything just 4 degrees would it be the battery still or could it be anything more serious?
If you take your car to an auto Elec Fru, he / she will check you battery FOC in an instant, I would still go for the battery, have you got another battery to try? if so you will have your answer. ( Don't forget your radio code on swapping the battery.
Have you checked for a drain (a small short) from your battery when not running? A battery does need to be pretty good this time of year.

Johnk i haven't and i wouldn't be that technically minded ha ha sure i went this morning there and tried to open the door and the damn lock was froze but i didnt have time to go through the whole process of getting it defrosted etc so just left it would a mechanic be able to tell me if there is a slow drain on the battery?
Take it to an automotive electrical place .. like some of them sell batteries.
Ask them to do a 'drop check' on the battery.
Buy one if it fails.
