My step daughter bought a car (a Rover) from a local garage about 6 months ago. it came with a warranty (don't know how long but it's still within the warranty)

when they bought the car, they were told it had recently had a new engine but the car needed to be topped up with water fairly often.

The Starter motor then went on the car which was replaced.

The alternator then went which was replaced.

Now, the head gasket has gone which they're refusing to replace saying the car's basically knackered and it's not their fault. The garage are trying to get out of it any way they can despite the car being looked after and serviced as per agreement.

my step daughter and her hubby are only young and have bought this car on finnance for a lot of money (£3K). They don't know where to start as they need the car for work and we're going away on holiday with them next week which involves them taking a car.

where do we start ? any help most appreciated

First Step .. Get an independant asessment from another reputable garage.
Next might be a solicitors letter depending on what's found .. and contact Trading Standards to enquire about this garage and for further advice.
I suspect rebuilt or 2nd hand engine.
