Who were this year's Oscar winners

A.� This year's Academy Awards will be remembered as the year Hollywood honoured its African American actors.

The biggest cheers of the 74th Academy Awards were reserved for Woody Allen and Sidney Poitier. The first was on hand to introduce a montage of classic New York movies, the second to receive an honorary award in recognition of his poineering work helping to break down Hollywood's colour barrier.�

The glittering ceremony will also be remembered for the industry's business-as-usual response to the events on September 11.
