THE PRODUCERS of the twentieth James Bond film Beyond the Ice, due for release next year, have been courting newly-wed film star Catherine Zeta Douglas for a supporting role, but the Welsh actress wants to become the first female Bond.

Zeta Douglas has already screen-tested alongside current James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan to be the first female 00 agent in the film series' 38-year history. But, she is now reported as saying: 'There is no way I am going to play Pierce Brosnan's sidekick. Thank you. I'd play Bond, Jane Bond.'

Lara Croft star Angelina Jolie is also vying for this role, but the film's makers are unlikely to agree to changing the sex of 007. They have already got male actors queuing up to play James Bond, should Brosnan fall out of favour: singer Robbie Williams and Friends' star Matthew Perry are said to be desperate for the role.

The film's makers, however, have changed the actors who have play James Bond often enough over the years, would the audience mind if they changed Bond's sex

What do you think Do you think it's about time James Bond took on a different persona altogether Or do you think Ian Flemming's creation should remain a he. Have your say on The AnswerBank's message boards.
