Fantastic Mr. Fox

14:34 Mon 28th Jun 2010 |

Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of the best children’s films of recent years. It is the first animated film directed by Wes Anderson. The ensemble voice cast is stellar including George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, and Bill Murray who give heart to their roles and the film. The film is based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name.

On the whole audiences enjoyed the film, even those who had read the original book as the plot followed Dahl’s story fairly well. However, there were some dissenters who did not like the ‘Wes Craven’ touch to the film. They found the dysfunctional family’s interactions mawkish and the characters distracting due to the weighty voice cast.

The film is a return to stop motion animation and does not resort of CGI to get the effects it needs. This makes it a gorgeous looking film and the characters seem more natural for it. The vast majority of viewers liked the style and did not miss the CGI.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox is a former charismatic free spirit who has now settled down with wife and kids to a normal life. However, he cannot resist one last wild adventure and raids three nearby farms. Of course, the farmers come after him, his family and friends and pretty much all the wildlife in the area. Can Mr. Fox save the day?
