I dont watch Corrie, but have just seen this character on This Morning. Have'nt they just stolen Shameless's Frank Gallagher and turned him ginger?

He played a brilliant part in the film 'Full Monty' - a bit of a mummy's boy who played the trombone or some such instrument, then mum died and it turned out he was gay - and subsequently 'got off' with the hunkiest person in the group.

In Corrie, he really is quite horrible though - as a character.
