Rab C Nesbitt Xmas special - Sound effect/Music

Hello, In the Rab C Nesbitt Xmas special theres a scene about 3/4 of the way through where Jamesy tricks the 'dry' Rab to drink from a pint. As Rab looks at it a sound effect plays: it sounds very much like a squeaky gate along with the sound a finger makes on the rim of a glass. It is quite a well used sound I have heard it many times before in tv (X Files - Roland episode) and films (Jagged Edge?). If anyone knows what I am on about and can tell me if it is from a piece of music I would be most grateful. I would very much like to know the source. Thanks
