Well it was the first episode today, pretty painless for us hardcore neighbours fans, EXCEPT what's with the ads in between?! Its only about 20mins long why do they need adverts?

Welcome to 'cmmercial television' - the clue is in the name.

All commercial stations pay for their output by selling advertising.

'Neighbours' has a proven audience, and it will be an attractive proposition for advertisers, so you'd better get used to the interuptions.

Sorry.
20 mins = half hour slot with ten mins ads. Every hour of scheduled tv is usually 40-42 mins programme to about 20 mins ads.

You should watch tv if you're ever in the US - a 90 minute movie can stretch to 3 hours!
I don`t watch Neighbours but taped it for my grand-daughter recently. I did notice then, that although on BBC it seemed to have a running time similar to our ITV which I figured was because it was made for commercial TV in Australia.

So, Snappy, I think you are still getting the same time.
Do you know what Five paid for this? - a fortune!!

They have to get that money somehow, and let's face it, there isn't much on five worth watching.
Sadly,It's the end of my Neighbours watching, as can't watch a programme that short with adverts. I was definitely a very hardcore fan as well, watching it from the Kylie and Jason days...

Oh well, time to grow up, i suppose ;-)
