If the current series of Celebrity Eggheads is anything to go by, the BBC consider any person who represents a minority - be they disabled, ethnic, etc - and has ever stood in front of a camera or microphone "a celebrity" these days. Never seen most of them in my life before, but hey they tick boxes. BBC. The Box-ticking Broadcasting Company. Bonkers, dontcha think?
Hate to tell you this but the population is made up of those with disabilities and of diverse ethnicities. Just between you and me I believe there may be one or two homosexuals about too.
I think you'll find that most "celebrities" no matter their background, don't like the idea of being shown up on quiz shows. That is why many of those who appear are very minor ones.
Eggheads is a bit of a dead loss in my book. Quizzes based on multiple choice are not really quizzes.
Itchkeria has got it exactly right . With the answers in front of you, you could put a team of monkeys up to take on the Eggheads and they will get at least 1 in 3 questions right. It is a crap quiz and they will not have teams on there which have good quiz players
In fairness some friends of mine are going on it next month and they ARE champion quizzers who may give the eggsters a run for their money. Nonetheless, I still think the format not only devalued the thing but gives the Eggheads an even bigger advantage.
